Burning Man is a festival based on community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance held annually since 1986 in Black Rock Desert, Pershing County, Nevada, US. This event is a gathering for bohemians and free spirits, having recently expanded to social media influencers, celebrities, and the Silicon Valley elite. During this 9-day event, participants design and build art. The art included at Burning Man is known for its experimental and interactive nature. As the event comes to a close, a ceremony is held to burn the large wooden effigy or “man” from which the event takes its name.

On a national tour, No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man is a Museum exhibition that brings the large-scale, participatory work from this desert gathering to several US cities for the first time. This exhibit brings to life the maker culture and creative spirit of this cultural movement.

Current Visual Identity Evaluation

At present, there is no distinct visual identity associated with this event. Nonetheless, No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man serves as a representation of the artwork created at the Burning Man festival. Thus, it closely aligns itself with the festival's identity. Unfortunately, the current visual identity for Burning Man inadequately captures the essence of both the festival and the museum exhibition. I used this opportinity to better align Burning Man’s visual identity.
